The Trek Thru Romans - Day 4

The Trek Thru Romans - Day 4

Note: After TODAY, you'll be 25% done! Keep up the great work. This week we are tackling Romans 4-8. The following two weeks, we will trek through four chapters a week.

How are you doing? You are three chapters in. You can do this. You can read Romans with me. Keep it up! Take your time! If you were on a hike, I would make sure of a few things.

Have you consumed some water?
How about a snack?
Are you resting?
Are you looking at the views?

So many times people “go for a hike” and never look. Did you “see” Romans 1:16, or 3:21-25? If not go back and look at those vistas.

So we come to a place where St. Paul holds up Abraham and beats a specific point to death. It was faith first—faith in God, not ourselves. All of that is to bring this section to a close.

What do you think about the world? Is there a God? What do you think about yourself and humanity... do you need a Savior... or can you “work it out” with a little help?

Read Romans 4 and then my few words and ask yourself, “Where am I, is it faith in Jesus, alone?”

Keep your eyes on the vistas. Salvation, which is a gift of God received by faith, is on the horizon. Don’t stop now!

  • According to Romans 4, what made David and Abraham right with God? If their lives would have been evaluated by works, would they have done well?
  • What does the Law bring according to this chapter? How or why is that? What does grace bring according to this chapter? How or why is that? How is one saved from this wrath that the Law brings (read verses 22-25)?
  • Is there something that you are waiting for God to accomplish or do in your life? How can focusing on God’s grace and faithfulness help you through times of waiting in your life?
