Some days it's difficult just to put one foot in front of the other. The problems we experience seem to drag on, and the gray cloud that follows us around has no silver lining. Life can get dreary, and so very daily.
Its at time like these when we need to look to Gods word for encouragement. When we cannot understand our circumstances, when our plans go differently from the way we had hoped or intended, or when our burdens seem heavy, His promises to us in the Bible can be our source of strength and encouragement.
The Pocket Testament League recommends reading these perspective-changing Bible verses-
Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Psalm 34:8 O taste and see that the Lord is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 55:22 Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you;
He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.
Psalm 90:17 Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us; And confirm for us the work of our hands; Yes, confirm the work of our hands.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 16:3 Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be established.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.
Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Philippians 4:6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
1 Peter 5:7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
As we meditate on the good things God has for us, we can let our hearts be encouraged by the truth found in His Word. When times are dry and life is difficult, daily Bible reading is a soothing balm to our soul and gives us hope to continue on the path, even if the way is difficult. Read what God says and be encouraged!
