A Lesson From The USA-Portugal World Cup Game

Nearly 25 million people watched the World Cup soccer match between Portugal and the United States. That final second shot by Portugal made USA fans gasp. It seemed certain the USA would win after an amazing come-from-behind effort.

But on the last play of the game, Portugal's Ronaldo made a brilliant pass that led to the tie. Now the Americans have to tie or defeat Germany to move on.

Think about it … fans from around the world who speak dozens of different languages are watching the same game and gasp the same way when their team loses. Human nature is human nature.

So it goes with The Bible … God’s Word is the same today as it was thousands of years ago because human nature has not changed.

We humans need Truth, the Truth that speaks into our hearts through God’s Word.

The Pocket Testament League is celebrating the 10,000 Portuguese pocket-sized Gospels of John that are being distributed right now during the World Cup in Brazil thanks to faithful donors like you.

Why does this matter? Because of stories like this from League member James F.

“My latest shipment of Gospels of John arrived today! Thank you very much PTL! Today's evangelism was fruitful: one elderly lady, a father and son, one young man, two teenage girls and one homeless man called upon Jesus for salvation! Hallelujah!”

One day, we will all stand before the LORD and give an account for our actions. Make every moment count and share God’s Word with those in need. Your obedience will make an eternal impact.

Finish the race strong by sharing God’s Word each and every day!
