4 Ways to Share Christ This Easter
What comes to mind when you think of celebrating Easter? For believers, you might get up early for an Easter sunrise service, celebrating how Jesus rose again. You might revisit and celebrate the Bible accounts of the Resurrection, told in passages like Mark 16 or Luke 24. For non-believers, though, Easter tends to get away from the truth of Jesus, inserting Easter bunnies, egg hunts, and candy instead. This year, you can help them understand the true meaning! Check out our 4 ways you can share Christ this Easter that will make a difference.
1. Give a Gift.
Nearly everyone will accept a free gift, and Easter gives you a great reason to hand one out! You can keep small Easter baskets or gift bags inside your closet or car, ready to hand out at a moment’s notice. Fill them with things like
- flower seed packets
- toy lambs
- children’s Easter storybooks or coloring books
- resurrection eggs
- Easter-themed treats
- the Gospel of John
You could even insert a handwritten note about what each of the items mean, using every opportunity to share Christ with your Easter gift.
2. Be Vocal.
John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
The best way to get out the message of Easter? Tell people without shame or reservation!
- Start by sharing your thoughts on the power of forgiveness with children or friends. You can easily go into the forgiveness of Jesus Christ from there.
- You can share your own testimony of victory in Jesus! Show how Christ gave you a resurrected life in Him.
- Proclaim it on social media with an inspirational thought and Bible verse! See Romans 10:9.
3. Invite People to Church.
Of all the seasons to invite someone to your church, now is the time! Even if some people don’t believe the truth of Jesus for themselves, many will often attend church as part of a tradition, especially if someone invites them.
According to a survey by the National Retail Federation (NRF), about 50 percent of Americans were planning to attend an Easter church service in 2015. (1) That’s a whopping number! How many more might be persuaded to go if someone they knew invited them?
4. Share Chocolate Cadbury Eggs.
These chocolate treats are a welcome delight to the Easter celebration, and you can actually use them to further the Gospel. Just wrap the eggs in decorative paper and attach Resurrection symbols to the wrapping. Then, you can explain what the symbols mean to anyone who will listen.
Or you can choose to tell the story of how chocolatier John Cadbury’s granddaughter came to start a club called The Pocket Testament League. To further explain what her club was all about, hand them a pocket Gospel of John!
There are many ways you can share Christ this Easter and let others know the sacrifice and love that this holiday represents. With these simple ideas or a little creativity of your own, you can turn the focus from candy and gifts back to Jesus and His amazing Resurrection!
Remember to keep pocket Gospels with you during the season too. Go to ptl.org/share and take a peek at our Easter covers!
