Father’s Day: A Day of Giving Back

When the tradition of Father’s Day began over a century ago, Sonora Smart Dodd, pushed for her city to recognize her father’s birthday, June 5, to honor William Jackson Smart for his determination to sacrifice for and raise his six children alone. The city agreed and held the special event on June 19 to allow more to time to schedule events.

Now, we celebrate Father’s Day by spending time with our fathers, treating them to special meals and gifts, and looking back on memories with them. Over a century has passed, but Father’s Day still upholds the same roots as the first celebration—as a day of giving back.

Memorial Day is a time to Share!

Memorial Day is coming soon! Break out the flags, pin on the poppies and get ready to hit the parade and welcome in the summer season!

Memorial Day weekend is a great time to share Gospels with servicemen and women, as well as anyone else you may see on the festive holiday. There are some great patriotically themed Gospels to choose from, but anything that you have on hand will work better than nothing at all!

8 Ways to Share the Gospel with Dads, Grads, and Newlyweds

May is a month of excitement and celebration! In this sunny season, many of you are touching up the final plans for your wedding, graduation, or the upcoming Father’s Day. Even more exciting, you might be spending time with family and friends that you haven’t seen in a while. What a great time to share the Gospel with unsaved loved ones!

A Godly Mother’s Highest Honor

From the time a godly mother nurtures her children as babies, she is pouring herself into them day after day. She teaches her beloved little ones to walk and talk and encourages them in school. Of all the lessons this godly woman teaches, though, she puts the most importance on the subject of her Lord.

PTL has had the privilege of seeing such godly mothers in action, and the League welcomes you to read many great examples. The highest honor that any godly mother could have is that her children know and proclaim the Gospel.

3 ways to help your child embrace the Great Commission

What do you remember about the day you brought your children home from the hospital?

I’m (99 percent) sure you didn’t think about the war you just stepped into. But each baby placed into your care was an arrow.

“Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
are the children of one’s youth.”
Psalm 127:4 (ESV)

You were given future warriors to train for battle. Biblical parenting is possibly the greatest mission you’ll ever be given.

National Day of Prayer: Sharing God's Word today.

ON THIS DAY, STOP AND PRAY
“…if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Inspirational stories of the power of prayer fill the pages of the Bible. Testimonies from Jonah, Daniel, Job, David, the Apostles, and so many more demonstrate the rich tradition of prayer and its role in our relationship with Jesus, the Christ.

Plug into the Power of Prayer when Sharing the Gospel

“The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” - James 5:16

Each one of us has experienced electricity going out when a storm hits, leaving everything in the home utterly powerless. Refrigerators, air conditioners, televisions and whatever else relies on power to operate cannot function at all. Why? Because they have no power.

Christian Athletes Point To Christ

Entering The Sports Lion's Den - How You Can Effectively Point To Christ

Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant walked into the Lion's Den on Saturday night, February 11, 2017.

The Lion's Den just happened to be in Oklahoma City. And, he was facing the Thunder, not starved lions. Well, Thunder fans in the arena that night acted like starved lions ready to devour Durant.

Help That "CEO" Sitting Next To You Truly Know Jesus

Do you know what a CEO is? Not in the business world, but in the Christian world. It's someone who attends church on Christmas and Easter Only.

During your church's Easter service on April 16, you might find yourself sitting next to a CEO who is looking for hope. And you can easily recognize this person because you last saw him or her on Christmas. The question, though, is whether you are equipped to share the Gospel with the person that God puts in your path.

Scriptures To Prepare Your Heart For Easter

Did Not Our Hearts Burn Within Us? Prepare your Heart for Easter.

“Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?” - Luke 24:32

On Easter Sunday, Christians from all over the world will remember and reflect upon the resurrection of Jesus Christ. For many it will be a celebration filled with great rejoicing and heart felt praise and worship.

Spring Break! Help Students Leave With Christ, Not Regrets

Hopefully you avoided the movie "Spring Breakers" that came out in 2013. It was an indecent and offensive movie that highlighted the need for God's spirit to sweep across Florida beaches. But, it drew so much attention because it featured former wholesome Disney stars Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens in shocking lead roles.

The movie also captured the darkness and un-Christ-like environment that young people are exposed to while on break from high school or college. Unfortunately, the darkness masquerading as light is appealing to many students who want to lose themselves for a week. We know it's our sin nature, but our culture makes it acceptable, which makes it even more appealing.

That's why it's so important to reach future leaders and decision-makers with God's Word.
